Long-Term Resident Program in Thailand (LTR)

Thailand is proposing a new visa dubbed “Long-Term Resident (LTR),” which is a program that gives a variety of tax and non-tax incentives to ‘high-potential’ foreigners in order to increase the country’s appeal as a regional center for living and doing business. Thailand is now home to international enterprises from all over the world, as well as one of Asia’s most prominent tourist attractions.

LTR visas will be offered to four categories of foreigners:

Global Wealthy citizens Wealthy individuals holding at least USD 1 million in assets
Wealthy Pensioners Retirees aged 50 years and older who have an annual pension or stable income
Work-from-Thailand Remote workers working for well-established overseas companies
Highly-Skilled Professionals Professionals or experts in targeted industries working for business entities or higher education institutes or research centers or specialized training institutions in Thailand or Thai government agencies
Dependents Spouses and children (under 20 years old) of LTR visa holders will also qualify for the same visas. (Maximum 4 dependents in total per one LTR visa holder)

Visa Request and Issuance

1. Register and submit an application for LTR Visa qualifying endorsement and accompanying documentation online.

2. Applicants will be notified of the outcome within 20 working days of receiving complete documentation.

3. Qualified candidates may apply for LTR Visa issuance at Royal Thai Embassies/Royal Thai Consulate Generals overseas or Immigration offices in Thailand within 60 days of the endorsement letter’s issuing date. The 10-year visa with multiple entrance costs 50,000 Baht per person to complete.

4. Applicants working in Thailand can get digital work permits from the Department of Employment at the One Stop Service Center for Visa and Work Permit, Chamchuri Square Building, Bangkok, or through provincial labor offices.
