Singapore's economy grows faster than expected
Singapore’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the second quarter of 2021 grew faster than expected, and the Singapore government has raised its GDP forecast for 2021.
Singapore’s Q2 2021 GDP grew by 14.7% year-on-year, compared to the 14.3% previously forecast by the government. The Ministry of Commerce expects economic growth this year to reach about 6% to 7%, compared with a previous estimate of 4% to 6%.
Experts said Singapore’s economic recovery would be stronger from August 2021, when the vast majority of its population would be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The manufacturing and service sectors will continue to recover and the construction sector will remain stable.
Thailand's growth is picking up after a difficult year
Thai household confidence recovered in September thanks to the easing of some health restrictions, an index from the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) showed Thursday. This confirms the hopes of the country’s authorities that the economy will start to recover in the fourth quarter. The UTCC consumer confidence index rose to 41.4 in September from 39.6 in August, a record low, the UTCC said in a statement.
Exports are doing well, the deputy economy minister said, adding that private investment applications amounted to 450 billion baht (11.52 billion euros) between January and August, already more than double last year’s figures.
The central bank expects the economy to grow by 0.7 per cent this year and 3.9 per cent by 2022. The economy contracted by 6.1% last year as the tourism sector was crippled by health measures that strangled a flow of travellers already reduced by the global Covid-19 crisis.

When you arrive, you will be welcomed by your line manager and/or the Human Resources Director. For each new employee, we organise a one-week to two-week induction course. During this period, you will be accompanied by a mentor who will introduce you to the company’s operations. He or she will be the main contact for all your questions. At the end of this induction period, the new employee is asked to produce a report on the company and its working environment.
Boost your career, take on challenges
We are committed to supporting the development of our employees and listening to their wishes through regular interviews throughout the year. The annual progress interview is an opportunity to review the past year, to identify the areas of progress for the coming year and to build a personalised training plan to help you achieve your goals.
ℹ️ Our training rate, which is on average three times higher than the legal requirements, reflects our desire to support the personal development and technical skills of our employees.
