Learn more about 90-day Report

Every foreigner residing in Thailand is legally obliged to inform the immigration department of his address every 90 days. If the foreigner stays in Thailand for more than 90 days, he/she must notify the Thai Immigration Department. This process is called the 90-day report. This process is mandatory. Anyone who fails to do so is liable to a fine of 2000 baht and 200 baht per day beyond that, up to a maximum of 5000 baht. You can of course do this formality with an agent to make sure that your request is ideally taken into account. Themis Partner offers you a 90-days report service.

What is the 90-day report?

If a foreigner stays in Thailand for more than 90 days in a row, he or her representative is required to notify the Immigration Office in writing at the end of each 90-day period to inform the authorities of his or her place of residence. The foreigner or his representative may notify the Immigration Office 15 days before the exact date or seven days after the exact date.

What are the consequences of not reporting?

If the foreigner fails to declare his or her address, he or she will be required to do so and pay a fine of up to 5,000 Thai baht. A daily fine of up to 200 Thai baht may also be imposed for each day of non-compliance. However, the fine is 2,000 Thai baht if the foreigner reports to the immigration office on his own. If the authorities catch the foreigner, the fine to be paid is 4,000 Thai baht.

Can I report online?

As of April 1, 2015, foreign nationals can report the 90-day process online. The application can be submitted within 15 days and not less than seven days before the notification deadline. This notification can be done on the immigration website. Once the applicant has completed the online application, they can check the status of their application on the website as described above. Approval usually takes seven business days.

What do I do after the 90-day report?

The applicant will then receive the notification receipt directly online, which should be printed and kept in the passport. However, you must complete the notification form within 15 days before or seven days after the expiration of the effective 90-day period if you are leaving and returning to Thailand. The counting of days will start again from the date of entry into the country.

It is very simple to fill out the notification form. You can do it yourself or have someone represent you. It is also possible to notify your address by registered letter or online.

Where do you submit the 90-day report?

To comply with the notification requirements, the visa holder must submit the 90-day report to the following location:

➤ Immigration Office, Government Complex, Chaengwattana, Bangkok
➤ One-Stop Center in Chamchuri Square, if your visa was processed there
➤ Local immigration offices

What documents are needed to request the 90-day report?

In order to proceed with the 90-day report, Thai law requires that several documents be provided to the appropriate Thai authorities, as outlined below:

➤ Copy of all pages of the passport with the last visa stamp or the last arrival stamp
➤ Copy of the TM 6 card (arrival and departure card)
➤ Note that you must copy the front and back of this document
➤ Previous notifications of stay over 90 days (if applicable)
➤ Notification form (TM47) duly completed and signed
➤ A stamped return envelope (5 baht) with the foreigner's address for the immigration officer to send the notification receipt to the foreigner. This notification receipt should be carefully kept as proof and for future notifications

All such documents must be sent to the following address seven days prior to the expiration of the 90 days:

90-DAY REGISTRATION
IMMIGRATION DIVISION 1
Government Complex Building B,
120 Moo 3, Chaengwattana road, Soi 7,
Laksi, Bangkok 10210

If you notify the Immigration Department of your address by registered mail, you must keep the receipt of the notification as proof. It is also possible to report your address online on the Immigration website. In conclusion, it is always advisable to check the Thai immigration rules while in Thailand, as failure to report for 90 days can result in a fine of THB 2,000, which can go up to THB 5,000 after an arrest. If the application is not accepted, the applicant must resubmit it to the nearest immigration office and must bring his/her original passport, departure card (TM.6) and completed application form (TM.47) for filing.
